Summary: Chobits is about the life of a 19 year old boy, Hideki Motosuwa. He is an honest and imaginative teenager trying to get into university. He was raised on a farm, and he has very little experience with women. He dreams of having a girlfriend, and a persocom (a computer designed to look and act like a human). In the city, he finds out that persocoms are quite common. Though, that doesn't mean Hideki can get one that easy, and he has no money, and persocoms are not cheap. One day as he walks home from school one evening, he finds a persocom in the form of a long haired, beautiful young woman. She's wrapped in cloth, and lying on a pile of trash and turned off. He brings her home and turns her on, and she quickly adores Hideki. She only says the world "chi", so that's what he names her.
